Updated: April 8, 2026

I-35W in Burnsville: Construction resumes April 13

Beginning on Monday, April 13, crews will resume construction on the I-35W in Burnsville project. This year, crews will complete the following improvements in the area:

  • Completion of southbound I-35W bridge over Cliff Rd. (April)
  • Replace pavement on northbound I-35W between Cliff Rd. and the I-35/I-35E/I-35W split
  • Replace the northbound I-35W bridge over Cliff Rd.
  • Replace the eastbound Hwy 13 bridge
  • Improve drainage

In addition to current closures along I-35W, the following lane and ramp closures will begin in early May through fall:

  • Southbound I-35W is reduced to two lanes between Cliff Rd. and the I-35/I-35E/I-35W split
  • Hwy 13 will be reduced to one lane in both directions with head-to-head traffic over I-35W

Ramp closures:

  • Northbound I-35W to Cliff Rd.
  • Eastbound Hwy 13 to northbound I-35W
  • Southbound I-35W to eastbound Hwy 13
  • Co. Rd. 42 to northbound I-35W

These closures are necessary for crews to complete pavement improvements along I-35W and replace the bridges at Cliff Rd. and Hwy 13.

Crews expect to complete the work in fall 2026.

Plan Ahead
